Community Games Gymnastics All Ireland Finals May 2019

The community games all Ireland finals were held in the University of limerick, Castletroy, Limerick, with over forty sports and various aspects and age groups of each involved it a very busy weekend in the venue.  The organization of the overall weekend is fantastic considering the numbers involved and the timescale.

LA Gymnastics were very fortunate to have two gymnasts representing Monaghan at this prestigious event, in the under 9’s it was Lára Corrigan and in under 11’s it was Abeigh McMahon!

The girls worked tirelessly towards this event alongside the other county representatives that are also coached by us but from other clubs, Ava Hughes, Abbie McDonald-Boyle, Senan McManus (Castleblaney) and our friends from County Cavan, U9’s Clodagh Kelly, U11’s Aimee Cunningham, U13’s Ava Kelly. They worked so well as team, pushing each other to do better, which was great preparation for the all Ireland’s.

LA Gymnastics had their first all-Ireland judge, congratulations to Caitriona Mulligan on her selection, Caitriona has vast experience with community games has competed and achieved medals during her age eligible years, bringing home medals to County Monaghan as a gymnast, she has now moved over to judging. She was put to work judging the floors for the day.

Both of our gymnasts Lára and Abeigh competed fantastically and had nothing left to give after their performances, we couldn’t have been prouder of them!

Abeigh’s age group of Under 11’s had a high volume of participants and lots with national experience and she stepped up to the plate with confidence and done fantastic floor and vault, ending up placing 7th overall with a full quota of gymnasts in attendance.

Lára had last years’ experience to spur her on, she had been disappointed last year with her score not her placing and was eager to put her best performance forward, which she did beautifully, So proud to say she brought home LA Gymnastics First national medal at community games, Placing second in a very tight competition.

Again, Congratulations to both girls we couldn’t have asked anything more of you both and you should be so proud of your achievements!
